Italian Serie A side Atalanta BC have reportedly closed in on completing the acquisition of Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana from Southampton in the ongoing summer transfer window.
According to SkySports, Southampton are on the verge of accepting the improved offer of €18 million from the Bergamo-based outfit for the signing of the former FC Nordsjaelland top marksman.
An earlier bid of €10 million plus add-ons was turned down by Southampton, as they are asking for a transfer fee between 20 and 22 million euros.
However, Kickgh.com understands that improved bid from Atalanta BC includes add-ons, raising the fee to €17 million despite paying €25 million to sign the 23-year-old winger from Stade Rennais in 2023.
Sulemana, who joined Southampton from French side Stade Rennais in January 2023, remains one of the club’s most marketable assets despite an injury-hit campaign.
The Ghanaian international showed glimpses of brilliance during his time at St. Mary’s, with his pace, dribbling, and direct style continuing to make him an attractive prospect for top clubs.
Sulemana scored two goals and provided two assists in 30 appearances for the Saints in all competitions during the 2024-25 season's campaign.
His current contract at Southampton will be expiring in the summer of 2027.
Sulemana will be reuniting with Ivan Juric at Atalanta BC, having worked under the Croatian manager at Southampton during the 2024-25 season.
