English Championship side Queens Park Rangers are set to complete the signing of Ghanaian international Kwame Poku after agreeing a compensation fee with Peterborough for the winger.

The 23-year-old attacker is set for a medical at the London club as he heads in for final talks to complete the move.

Poku is out of contract at the end of the month and Scottish giants Rangers were hopeful of winning the race for the player’s signature.

But QPR have ambushed Rangers and agreed a compensation fee with Peterborough for the forward in what they regard as a big coup.

The London-born Ghana international had been a star performer for Peterborough since joining from Colchester in 2021.

Poku notched 12 goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign, despite missing a big chunk of action with a hamstring injury.

He is now set to make the step up to the Championship and is already experienced in the second tier after experiencing relegation with Peterborough in the 2021-22 season.

The winger has already racked up more than 200 senior appearances for the Posh and Colchester, scoring 36 goals and notching 37 assists.

QPR have made several approaches for Poku during his time with Posh and been rebuffed on each occasion.

They now appear to have a real chance of taking him to west London, although other clubs are aware of his availability and also ready to make him an offer.

Poku has already featured for the senior national team of Ghana.
