Black Stars winger, Kamaldeen Sulemana was on target for Premier League newbies Southampton in their 3-1 preseason win over French Ligue 1 side Montpellier at the TBC Stadium in Spain.

The 22-year-old made the starting line up and had a very good first half before making way for another youngster with Ghanaian parentage Samuel Amo-Ameyaw.

The Saints started on a good note and won a penalty in just two minutes from kickoff. Kamaldeen stepped up and had his penalty saved before slotting in the rebound to snatch the lead.

With just a minute to half time, Tyler Dibling doubled the lead before Tunisian international Wahbi Khazri pulled one back for Montpellier in just eight minutes from the break.

Former Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis came off the bench to restore the two-goal lead for the Red-Whites as if finished 3-1 after full time.

This was a perfect test for the two teams to assess their readiness as the 2024/25 football season is just few weeks away from kicking off.

Having battled injuries last season, Kamaldeen will hope to stay fully fit this time to help his club establish themselves as a mainstay side in the English topflight.
