Ghana international Michael Baidoo is on the verge of sealing a move to the Middle East, following a short-lived spell with English Championship side Plymouth Argyle, Kickgh.com understands.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined the Pilgrims on a short-term deal earlier this year, is expected to finalise a switch to Umm Salal, the 2024/25 Qatar Stars League second-place finishers in the coming days, with personal terms reportedly agreed.
According to Qatari outlet Akoora which suggest Baidoo's deal includes a two-year contract with a significant salary package, performance-related bonuses, and the option to extend.
Baidoo made just 13 appearances for Plymouth for the second half of the 2024/25 Championship season and struggled to nail down a consistent starting spot.
Though his time in English football is set to be brief, his versatility and work rate caught the eye of scouts overseas, particularly in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Kickgh.com delved deeper and was informed as at the time of filing this report that the move is "90% done", with a medical and official unveiling expected before the end of the month, provided there are no final-hour setbacks.
