Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Leeroy Owusu has left Eerste Divisie side Willem II upon the expiration of his contract at the club on June 30.

Owusu, who was born to Ghanaian parents in Amsterdam, has ended his three-year stay at the Dutch outfit after joining in 2020 from De Graafschap.

 
Owusu was instrumental for Willem II Tilburg in their push for a return to the Dutch Eredivisie in the just-concluded 2022/23 season but they failed to make it happen after losing to VVV Venlo in the promotion playoffs.
 
Owusu featured in 38 games this season for the in the Dutch second tier and managed to score two goals and provided six assists in the process.
 
He confirmed his departure from the club in a social media post, saying he is confident that Willem II will return to the Dutch Eredivisie once again.
 
Owusu has made a total of 102 appearances for Willem II during his three-year stay, scoring two goals and providing 12 assists.
