The promising teenage sensation of Ghanaian descent has expressed his delight at making his first bow with the reserve side of the Johan Cruyff Arena outfit in the Dutch Eerste Divisie
Dutch-born Ghanaian starlet Levi Acheampong has described his debut appearance with Jong Ajax in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie as ''fantastic'' as he works his way out of getting a permanent promotion to the reserve team.
The evergreen teenager, currently on the books of Ajax U19, has been impressive in the U19 Division 1 Spring campaign so far this season.
However, with such splendid outings, the man on the touchline at the Sportpark De Toekomst, Óscar García, has handed him his debut with his troops during their clash with Helmond Sport.
Expressing his excitement over his debut with the Jong Ajax, the 18-year-old wonderkid has told Ajax Showtime: ''It was fantastic,'' he began by saying on his debut outing. ''First of all, I want to thank the coach (Óscar García) from day one, he included me in the Jong Ajax squad . I'm very grateful for that, and it was a wonderful moment for me.
''They've told me I'm a good player and see a lot of potential in me, but that there are still a lot of things I need to work on. That's why they're so keen to have me. This way, I can work on my areas of improvement with the Jong Ajax staff.''
He added on his shortfalls as an attacking midfielder: ''I need to work on my defensive positioning, giving everything and winning duels, and going for shots more. I haven't been definitively promoted yet, but on Saturday, for example, I can't play with the U19s because I have to train with Jong Ajax. I don't know when it will be official. They have said I need to focus on Jong Ajax for now.''
The Ghana-prospect youngster has so far taken in 14 appearances by netting 3 times and setting up 1 for the Ajax U19 across all contests this season.
Having featured for The Netherlands U15, U16, U17 & U18 national youth teams, Acheampong remains fit to play for Ghana at the international level given his Ghanaian heritage.
