Ghana Premier League icon Charles Assampong Taylor has boldly stated that Mohammed Kudus is a better footballer than Real Madrid and Brazil star Vinicius Jr.
Kudus, who played a pivotal role for West Ham United last season, scored 14 goals and provided six assists in his debut campaign with the Hammers.
His impressive performances also helped the team reach the quarterfinals of the Europa League. Kudus set a new record for the most successful dribbles in a single Premier League game against Chelsea and finished the season as the best dribbler in Europe.
In contrast, Vinicius Jr. was crucial in Real Madrid’s success last season, contributing to their La Liga and UEFA Champions League victories. Despite being a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or, Taylor believes that Vinicius Jr. does not match up to Kudus in terms of footballing talent.
"Kudus is a better footballer than Vinicius Jr. If Kudus were at Real Madrid, he’d be the main man in the team," Taylor asserted on Angel TV. He further criticized the lack of support for Ghanaian players and the poor quality of football pitches in the country, which he believes hinder the recognition of local talent.
Taylor, who was one of the most exciting players in the Ghana Premier League from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, was part of Hearts of Oak’s legendary "64 Battalion" team that won the league, FA Cup, and CAF Champions League in 2000. He later made headlines with a controversial move to Hearts' rivals, Asante Kotoko.
As the new season progresses, both Mohammed Kudus and Vinicius Jr. are expected to shine for their respective clubs in the Premier League and La Liga.
