The 25-year-old made the starting line up and marshalled the backline very well to power his side AS Monaco to an important 2-1 win over FC Barcelona in their first game of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season.
The homesters opened the scoring account through Maghnes Akliouche on the sixteenth minute but was subsequently equalized by Lamine Yamal twelve minutes later.
With nineteen minutes to full time, George Ilenikhena scored the winning goal to earn the the Rocks all three points.
In an interview with Flashscore, the stalwart center-back described the victory against the five-time champions as an important one and feels it will build their confidence going forward.
