It is the second time Monaco have seen a £15.4m bid for the Ghanaian international been knocked back by Southampton, with Salisu 12 months left on his contract at St Mary’s Stadium and is unlikely to sign new terms as he'll be one of several players set to leave this summer.
Although, Everton are currently not in an extreme need of a guards-man as Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite remain at the club. In case the situation changes and central defence departures take place, the Toffees will need to jump in the transfer market for a centre back. But if Salisu is sold to Monaco then, they will lose one of their top targets of the summer.
Monaco are aiming for some defensive reinforcements this summer, especially in the centre back area.
The departure of Jean Marcelin has left the Monégasques to join Brazilian giants Santos FC, leaving Monaco with insufficient options at centre back.
Kickgh.com can, however, report that Monaco are planning to make a third opening offer worth £16m for Salisu, which they hope Southampton will not knock back again.
