Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams has revealed that his brother, Nico, has no regrets about his decision to remain at Athletic Club despite significant interest from Barcelona.
The Catalan giants pursued the talented winger throughout the summer, but Nico ultimately chose to stay, influenced by Barcelona's inability to activate his release clause.
In the later stages of the transfer window, Nico took to social media to affirm his commitment to Athletic Club, vowing to deliver another year of thrilling performances for the fans.
“Nico doesn’t regret his decision to stay at Athletic; he says it’s the best decision he’s made,” Inaki Williams told Diario AS. “Nico is very happy in Bilbao, and I hope we can keep playing together for as long as possible.”
As Athletic Club looks to compete for the Europa League title this season under coach Ernesto Valverde, Nico is expected to play a vital role in the team's success. However, he has left the door open regarding his future, having promised Athletic Club fans that this will only be one more year.
