Athletic Club forward Iñaki Williams has said that his brother, Nico Williams, has had a problem in his recovery from injury.

Speaking honestly, Iñaki said what first looked like good progress has now slowed, making it unclear when Nico will be back playing.

“He’s screwed,” Iñaki said. “A few weeks ago he was telling me he was starting to see the light, but now he’s taken two or three steps backwards.”

Nico, who is known for his speed and direct attacking style, had been close to returning after showing positive signs in recent weeks. But this new setback has stopped that progress.

Injuries can be hard both physically and mentally, especially when a player is close to fully recovering. For Nico, it is frustrating because he had just started to show improvement.

Iñaki understands the difficulty, both as a teammate and as an older brother. He highlighted how emotionally challenging recovery can be.

Nico’s absence is a big loss for Athletic Club, where his energy and creativity are important. It also raises concerns for Spain, with major international competitions coming up.
