German-born attacker Ernest Poku has revealed that Ghana are among the countries interested in securing his international allegiance ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup but hasn’t heard from them yet either.
The Bayer Leverkusen forward, who also has ties to the Netherlands and Germany, where he was born, confirmed he has received informal approaches but remains uncertain about their authenticity.
The 22-year-old in an exclusive interview with Sportnieuws, who has represented Netherlands at various youth levels, says he is still waiting for official communication before making any decision on his international future.
“Netherlands, Ghana and Germany are all options, but I haven’t heard from all three yet. I can only wait.
He expressed concerns over the nature of the contact from Ghana. “I did hear some things from Ghana but that’s fifteen people who message me and say they work there. In the end, you don’t know what to believe. I have indicated that they shouldn’t communicate with me. If so, I will hear it from my agent,” he added.
The forward has been in fine form this season, registering five goals and four assists in 25 appearances, as speculation over his international future continues to grow.
