Ghanaian-born Portuguese youth international, Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah has joined Queenslander fold Brisbane Roar FC until the end of the season.
Official club statement reads;
"We're excited to announce the signing of 27-year-old former Portuguese youth international forward @asumah_abubakar from Grasshopper Club Zurich for the remainder of the 24/25 ALM season"
Abubakar’s professional career began in the Netherlands, where he developed at Willem II before making a move to MVV Maastricht in the Eredivisie.
In 2019, he transitioned to Swiss football with SC Kriens, impressing to earn a spot at FC Lugano in 2021.
The following year, Abubakar signed with FC Luzern, making 62 appearances and scoring 17 goals before transferring to his last club before here - FC Grasshopper.
A dynamic forward known for his blistering pace, technical skill, and goal-scoring instincts, Abubakar has nearly 100 appearances in the Swiss Super League, making him a valuable addition to the Brisbane Roar team.
Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah takes up the number 11 shirt at the Suncorp Stadium and is most likely to debut against Western United in the Australian A-League this weekend.
