The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has completed his transfer move to the French top-tier side ahead of the new football season

Ghanaian youngster Augustine Boakye has joined French Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Étienne on a four-year deal, with an option to extend to a further season upon its expiration, the club have confirmed.

 The former WAFA product is joining the newly-promoted elite division side from Austrian Bundesliga outfit Wolfsberger AC this summer.

An excerpt of a statement confirming the capturing of the 23-year-old read; " After the extension of Aïmen Moueffek and the arrivals of Yunis Abdelhamid, Ben Old and Zuriko Davitashvili, Augustine Boakye joins the Greens! Coming from Wolfsberger AC (Austria), the Ghanaian winger signed this Saturday with ASSE until 2028 with an additional year as an option."

Boakye had this to tell his club's official website right after inking the deal; "Joining AS Saint-Étienne to discover the French championship is a source of pride. Ligue 1 is a championship that I have always followed and ASSE is an emblematic club. I was able to talk with my friend, Lucas Gourna, who told me a lot of good things about it! I can't wait to discover this great club from the inside and meet its many supporters! "

He's yet to earn his international cap with Ghana men's senior national team, the Black Stars.
