The talented defender of Ghanaian descent has completed his transfer switch to the French top division outfit from his Austrian top-tier parent club this summer

Austrian-born Ghanaian defender Samson Baidoo has joined Ligue 1 side RC Lens from Austrian Bundesliga giants RB Salzburg on a five-year contract, the club have announced.

The 21-year-old centre-back, who was being courted by several European suitors this summer, has finally been landed by those in charge of the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on a long-term deal ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

''A career that gives you wings! With solid experience at the highest level (117 professional matches) and European experience (16 Champions League appearances) at just 21 years old, Samson Baidoo joins Racing from Red Bull Salzburg. The Austrian international, who combines defensive solidity and technical prowess, is a Sang et Or for the next five seasons,'' an excerpt of official confirmation over the Ghana-prospect defender read.

Sporting director Jean-Louis Leca said of his new recruited man via his club's website: '' Samson is a player that the recruitment team has been eyeing for a while. He was our priority to strengthen our defense and quickly in the discussions, the interest was mutual. Samson has physical abilities and a defensive rigor highly developed for his age. He is also a natural leader, who has been captain on several occasions of the teams he has played for. At 21, he has already accumulated nearly 120 matches including 16 in the Champions League and one selection with Austria. Managing to attract him to us is a real pleasure, and it confirms the attractiveness of Racing. His talent, his determination and his maturity, inherited from a good entourage, correspond to our expectations. Welcome home Samson!"

Having been cap-tied once by the Austrian senior national team, Baidoo still remains fit to switch nationality allegiance and represent Ghana on the international stage.
