The Danish top-flight campaigners have acquired the services of the 21-year-old defender of Ghanaian origin in today's transfer window deadline day

Danish-born Ghanaian centre-back Jonas Jensen-Abbew has joined Danish Superliga side Aarhus GF on a five-year deal, the club have announced.

The promising defender is joining the Aarhus-based club from fellow top division rivals FC Nordsjaelland.

"A new face will soon join the SL squad at the training camp in Spain in the form of 21-year-old defender Jonas Jensen-Abbew, who joins us from FC Nordsjælland on a five-year deal," a statement over the signing of the 21-year-old read.

Right after landing the Ghana-prospect stopper, sport director Stig Inge Björnebye had nothing but full of encomium for his newly-recruited guardsman, believing in his qualities to fit well into their system of play at the heart of their defensive line set-up.

"We have been looking for an opportunity to strengthen our squad and width in defence. We have found that in Jonas. Jensen-Abbew, who is a talented young central defender who still has a lot of development potential. We believe this can unfold in AGF and in our training environment, where he will join a squad with experienced and skilled defenders."

He added, "Jonas is strong in the duels, good in the main game and he has a good passing foot. And not least, his character and mentality as a footballer and human being fits well into our squad. So we are delighted that we have succeeded in bringing him to Aarhus and we look forward to seeing him unfold in AGF."

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the young central defender still remains eligible to represent Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the Danish U21 national youth teams.
