Ghana international Mohammed Kudus made a sensational return to West Ham United starting line up when they shared spoils with AFC Bournemouth in the English Premier League after the Black Stars' group stage elimination at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Kudus, who scored two in two matches for Ghana at the 2023 AFCON before their exit, was handed the starting berth by Davis Moyes in a Premier League game at the London Stadium.
It took James Ward-Prowse's second-half penalty spare Kalvin Phillips' blushes and rescued a Premier League point for West Ham against Bournemouth at London Stadium.
New Hammers signing Phillips had a debut to forget when he passed the ball straight to Dominic Solanke who put Bournemouth in front inside three minutes.
But West Ham were gifted a way back into the game in the 61st minute when Lloyd Kelly caught Mohammed Kudus in the penalty area and Ward-Prowse fired his spot-kick straight down the middle.
Neither side were able to find a winner on a cold night in the capital.
The Hammers, without a win in their past four games, stay sixth in the Premier League table, while Bournemouth move 12th, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Kudus has scored six goals and provided an assist in 17 Premier League appearances for West Ham United in his debut season at the club.
