The Austrian second division club have announced the capturing of the former Borussia Dortmund U19 star on a free transfer ahead of the start of the new football season

German-born Ghanaian defender Lloyd-Addo Kuffour has sealed his move to Austrian 2. Liga side SKU Amstetten on a one-year deal, the club have confirmed.

The 23-year-old left-back is teaming up with the Amstetten-based club on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with German fourth division side FSV Zwickau at the end of the season.

An official statement over the signing of the ex-Hanover 96 youth star read: ''SKU Ertl Glas Amstetten is pleased to welcome Lloyd-Addo Kuffour, another new signing. The 23-year-old German joins from FSV Zwickau (Regionalliga Nordost, Germany) and signs a one-season contract.''

''Kuffour is primarily at home on the left side of defense, but can also be deployed centrally or in left midfield. With his flexibility and dynamism, he brings valuable qualities to our defensive play.''

''Kuffour initially completed his football training in the Hannover 96 youth team before joining Borussia Dortmund's youth academy in 2016, where he progressed through all of the youth teams. After playing for Optik Rathenow, TSV Steinbach Haiger, and Rot Weiss Ahlen, his path led him to FSV Zwickau in 2023.''

The Ghana-prospect had this to tell his new employers right after appending his signature to the deal via their club's official website: ''The discussions with the club were very good, and I quickly had a good feeling that I could take the next step in my development here. I also find the league very interesting and am happy to be taking on this new challenge! I can't wait to be on the pitch with the boys every day and to have my first sporting experience abroad!"

Sporting director Thomas Gebauer added: ''With Lloyd-Addo Kuffour, we are gaining a highly talented player who has enjoyed an outstanding football education at Borussia Dortmund. His style of play fits our requirements perfectly. Despite his young age, Lloyd already brings valuable experience in the men's division, which makes him all the more interesting for us. In the many discussions we've had, he has also made a very mature and thoughtful impression as a person. We are convinced that he will be a true asset to our team, both as a player and as a person.''

Lloyd was involved in 26 games for FSV Zwickau across all contests in the recently concluded football season.

Given his Ghanaian root, the Hanover-born left-back remains fit to represent Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the Germany U15 & U16 national youth teams.
