The nimble left-footed winger of Ghanaian origin has completed his transfer move to the relegated German second division side ahead of the new football season
German-born Ghanaian winger Davis Asante has joined relegated 2.Bundesliga club SSV Jahn Regensburg from Werder Bremen's reserve team on a two-year deal, the club have confirmed.
The 22-year-old Werder Bremen youth product is linking up with the Die Jahnelf on a free transfer following the expiration of his deal with his boyhood club this June.
An official confirmation over his signing read: ''SSV Jahn Regensburg has found a new player in the far north of Germany in its reshuffled squad for the 2025/26 season: Davis Asante is moving from Werder Bremen's reserve team to Regensburg. The 22-year-old winger has signed a contract in the cathedral city until 2027.''
The Ghana-prospect had this to say after inking his deal with his new employers via their club's official website: ''I'm very happy to be in Regensburg now and will do everything I can to ensure we have a successful future here. SSV Jahn is a family-oriented club whose values align very well with mine. The discussions with Achim Beierlorzer and the new coach Michael Wimmer gave me a good feeling and convinced me that I'm in the right place. I can hardly wait to get to know my teammates and prepare for this season with them."
Sporting director Achim Beierlorzer added: ''With Davis Asante, we have acquired a fast, technically skilled, and talented player who, at 22, now wants to take the next step in his development. He has played as a left winger, right winger, and number ten in his career, giving us more versatility in attack. We will work with him over the coming months to ensure he quickly settles in here at SSV Jahn and in the 3rd division."
Asante was involved in 14 games having netted 4 and assisted 3 for Werder Bremen ll in the just recently concluded 2024-25 campaign.
Given his Ghanaian root, the Bremen-born winger remains fit to represent Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the Germany U16 national youth team.
