The Dutch third division outfit have announced the signing of the experienced defender of Ghanaian descent ahead of the new football season
Dutch-born Ghanaian centre-back Mitch Apau has joined Tweede Divisie side SV Spakenburg on a one-year contract, the club have confirmed.
The experienced defender is linking up with the De Blauwen after leaving newly-promoted Eredivisie side SC Telstar at the end of the just ended season.
An official confirmation over the capturing of the former Ajax Youth star read: '' Spakenburg has secured the services of central defender Mitch Apau for the coming season. The 34-year-old right central defender is currently active for Telstar, for which he not only started as captain in all competition matches this season but also -with a few minutes to spare- completed all matches.''
Club's chairman Marc Schoonebeek commented on the signing of the experienced stopper via the club's official website: ''We were looking for a type like Mitch for the right central position in our defense. Experience, leadership, calmness and solidity were the key words here. We are convinced that we are well provided for with Mitch.''
Apau, who captained SC Telstar in the just ended campaign, played an integral role for them in securing qualification to the top-flight after featuring in 38 eague games in the Kitchen Champions League 24/25 season.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Amsterdam-born defender remains fit to represent Ghana on the international stage.
