Salim Adams delivered a promising first appearance for Ghana on Saturday, offering one of the few bright moments in the Black Stars’ 2-0 defeat to Mexico in an international friendly.
The Medeama SC midfielder was introduced in the second half, coming on in the 76th minute to replace Emmanuel Agyei as Ghana continued their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite the challenging situation, Adams quickly settled into the rhythm of the game, showing composure on the ball and confidence in midfield during his debut outing.
His performance is expected to boost his chances of earning a place in Ghana’s final World Cup squad, with head coach Carlos Queiroz set to make his final selection after the upcoming friendly against Wales.
Adams has enjoyed a standout season at club level, playing a key role in Medeama SC’s 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title triumph.
His consistent displays earned him a first senior national team call-up, and he is now aiming to build on his debut as competition intensifies ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
