The 29-year-old defender of Ghanaian origin has joined the German second-tier side ahead of the upcoming football campaign

2.Bundesliga outfit FC Kaiserslautern have announced the signing of Ghanaian right-back Jan Gyamerah from FC Nuremberg.

The ex-Hamburger SV stopper is linking up with the Fritz-Walter-Stadion campaigners in an undisclosed period of contract ahead of the 2024-25 season.

"FC Kaiserslautern has strengthened its defense again about a week before the start of the 2024/25 second division season: Jan Gyamerah is moving from league rival 1. FC Nuremberg to the Palatinate," an excerpt of a statement confirming his signing read.

Gyamerah had this to tell his new employers right after putting pen to paper; " l have only played for traditional clubs so far, and that was a decisive factor in my decision to move to FCK. In addition, there were the very good discussions with the coach and those in charge that convinced me. I generally believe that the club has a lot of potential and I am happy to be able to do my part to be successful together with FCK."

Sporting director Thomas Hengen added; "With Jan, we were able to sign a seasoned second division player who is also prepared to take on responsibility on and off the pitch. He is a reinforcement for our entire defense, as his flexibility offers us a variety of options for shaping our system and our game."

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international level.
