The ex-VfB Stuttgart midfield enforcer has penned fresh terms with the German fourth-tier outfit, with his new deal set to come to a close on June 30, 2028

Ghanaian midfielder Hans Nunoo Sarpei has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract extension with German Regionalliga Südwest side SG Barockstadt, the club have announced.

The 27-year-old, who joined up with the German lowly division club on a free transfer in a one-year deal in the summer of 2025, has lived up to his expectations at the Sportpark Johannisau after taking in 20 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

A portion of a statement confirming the contract extension agreement with the former Greuther Fürth man raeds: ''A crucial decision for the future: Hans Nunoo Sarpei will continue to wear the SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz jersey for years to come. The 27-year-old has extended his contract until June 30, 2028.

''The Ghanaian midfielder joined the club from a free agency at the start of the current season, having previously played for Finnish first division side HJK Helsinki. With his experience in the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, and 3. Liga, Sarpei brought a high level of quality and professionalism from day one.''

Sporting director Patrick Schaaf has told his club's official website right after tying down the Ghanaian enforcer to fresh terms: ''Hans was an absolute stroke of luck for us. His strength in tackles gives us a lot of stability in the number six position. The fact that he feels comfortable in Fulda and has made himself at home here helped convince him to extend his contract. In addition to his experience, we can also continue to develop and promote young talent with him.''

Sarpei is having a robust experience in football competitions following spells with HJK Helsinki, FC Ingolstadt, Greuther Fürth and VfB Stuttgart so far in his footballing career.

He is yet to be cap-tied by the Ghana senior men's national Team, the Black Stars at the international level.
