The Austrian top division outfit have announced the signing of the talented Ghanaian teenager on a long-term deal in this current transfer window
Ghanaian teen Edmund Baidoo has joined Austrian Bundesliga side RB Salzburg on a five-year deal from Norwegian outfit Sogndal IL, the club have confirmed.
The 18-year-old is joining the Red Bull Arena campaigners on the back of a successful stint in the Norwegian lower division contest.
Announcing the deal, the Wals-Siezenheim-based side have said their contractual obligations with the Ghanaian starlet will run through to 2029, stating on their club official website: "FC Red Bull Salzburg have signed Edmund Baidoo from Norway's Sogndal IL, with a contract penned until 30 June 2029."
"The 18-year-old attacker from Ghana moved from his homeland to Norway in March this year, and has scored nine goals as well as providing seven assists in 22 matches."
The teenage sensation had this to say right after appending his signature to the deal: "I am really excited - it's a dream come true for me. I know FC Red Bull Salzburg and that the club has developed lots of good players over the years. I want to be another one of those that can help the club succeed on its path. I will work had and do everything for that."
Sporting director Bernhard Seonbuchner added: "We were able to sign a very exciting young player in Edmund Baidoo, who has already impressed in first-team football despite his young age. He has a good combination of speed and technique. He was involved in lots of goals at his former club, and we are certain that he can show this attribute for us too. We are looking forward to having Edmund, but will give him all the time he needs to settle in."
Baidoo could become a sure bet for the Ghana Black Stars team at the international level in the near future given his talent as a promising budding star.
