Ghanaian young winger Edmund Baidoo has expressed his delight after completing a sensational move to Austrian Bundesliga giants Red Bull Salzburg in the ongoing summer transfer.

Baidoo, who moved to European football from Ghanaian lower-tier side AsanSka Football Club in February 2024, signed a five-year contract with RB Salzburg after passing the mandatory medical tests earlier today.

The 18-year-old attacker has been acquired by the Austrian Bundesliga giants on a long-term contract worth €4.5 million from Norwegian second-tier league outfit Sogndal IL.

Baidoo, in an interview, said sealing a move to RB Salzburg is a dream come true as a young footballer and hopeful to succeed at the club.

“I am really excited—it's a dream come true for me. I know FC Red Bull Salzburg and that the club has developed lots of good players over the years," Baidoo told the club's official website.

“I want to be another one of those that can help the club succeed on its path. I will work hard and do everything for that,” he added.

Baidoo has 10 goal involvements in 19 appearances for Sogndal IF in the Norwegian First Division this season and has also netted five goals and assisted twice in three cup games.

Why Edmund Baidoo will be a great asset to RB Salzburg

The Ghanaian teenager is rated among the best wingers below the age of 21 in Europe following his scintillating performances at Sogndal IL—a club he joined earlier this year from Ghanaian lower-tier side AsanSka FC—in the Norwegian second-tier league.

In June, Kickgh.com made a publication courtesy a report from Skysports that English Premier League duo; Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest were interested in signing Edmund Baidoo.

Several clubs, including Malmo FF, Club Brugge, Genk, Anderlecht, and FC Basel, were also being credited with his chase for a possible acquisition.

Baidoo and his agents, however, opted for Red Bull Salzburg as his next destination to help him climb his football career ladder.

He's yet to be cap-tied by the Ghana men's senior national team, the Black Stars, at the international level.

Baidoo has been tipped by Kickgh.com writer Hassan Alhassan to become a sure bet for the Black Stars of Ghana in the future, given his talent as a promising budding star.
