The 25-year-old German-born Ghanaian defender has completed his move to the Swiss top-tier outfit in this ongoing summer transfer window

Ghana international Stephan Ambrosius has joined Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen on a three-year deal, the club have confirmed.

The tough-tackling guardsman is joining the Kybunpark campaigners on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with German 2. Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV this summer.

Announcing the deal, the St. Gallen-based club have said via their club's official website: "Central defender Stephan Ambrosius is moving to FC St.Gallen 1879. The German-Ghanaian dual citizen has signed a three-year contract and comes on a free transfer from Hamburger Sport Verein (HSV), where he was under contract until summer 2024."

Sporting director Roger Stilz added this to his communications network after capturing the Ghanaian stopper on a free transfer ahead of next football season: "Stephan is a powerful central defender who clearly has his strengths in direct duels. He is a reinforcement for our central defense. Stephan is a straightforward guy who cares about the team and we are happy that he has chosen our FCSG."

Before severing ties with his boyhood club this summer, he featured in 20 games across all competitions for the 2.Bundesliga 23/24 football campaign.

He has so far figured in two friendly games for Ghana men's senior national team, the Black Stars after switching national allegiance to represent the West African powerhouse in 2022.
