The Los Blancos are reportedly courting the talented centre-back in an effort to acquire him from Granada CF.
Spanish giants Real Madrid have expressed a keen interest in signing Ghanaian young defender Oscar Naasei Oppong this summer.
The 20-year-old promising guardsman, who signed a contract extension with the second-tier league outfit last year to keep him until 2026, has emerged as a top transfer target for Real Madrid's Castilla and is really pushing hard to land him in the summer transfer window.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid have identified the former Emmanuel City defender as a key target to bolster the backline of the club's youth side Castilla upon the recommendation of Alvaro Arbeloa.
Oscar Naasei made a significant mark in his football career at Granada CF in October 2024 when he made a first-team debut against Levante UD in a La Liga 2 fixture. He went ahead to make nine La Liga appearances and featured in a Copa del Rey game against Real Zaragoza in the just-concluded season.
Kickgh.com understands that Granada CF are open to selling the Ghanaian international for a fee around the region of €450,000 to €1 million, with a year left on his contract.
Oscar Naasei described as the next Sergio Ramos
The 20-year-old has been showcasing incredible performances since arriving at Granada CF in 2023 from the Ghanaian lower-tier side Emmanuel City for an undisclosed fee.
Oscar Naasei is incredibly gifted in possession and a key component in starting attacks from defence. He’s also shown the capability to play at full-back due to his speed and also in defensive midfield given his ability on the ball.
He excels well with the ball at his feet and is also confident enough to play passes between the lines and is always looking to get the ball quickly. His composure is terrific – a perfect mix of Sergio Ramos and Thiago Silva. Being naturally two-footed is another great quality, which is rather rare among stoppers. He may not have the hype and experience, but his talent has never been in doubt.
His reading of the game is so good that he can anticipate situations before they escalate, but if he does get into danger, he can always rely on his long stride to get him out of trouble. The 20-year-old is a mature performer, and leadership comes naturally to him.
Having a strong stature, a good vision, and a self-confident personality, the Granada CF young defender is a prototypical rock at the back whose general quality on the ball play is a striking feature when watching him play with the ability to comfortably play out from the back and complete long-range passes. And while he is astute on the ball, he remains more than capable off it in defensive situations.
Oscar Naasei has been named in the Ghana U20 squad for the inaugural WAFU A and B championship scheduled to be held later this year in Ghana.
