RC Lens General Manager, Arnaud Pouille has opened up on the club's decision to extend the contract of Ghana international Salis Abdul Samed until the summer of 2028.
Abdul Samed has been a top performer for the French Ligue 1 outfit since his arrival at the club prior to the start of the 2022/23 season's campaign.
The club's chief in an interview stated that the mercurial midfielder has been rewarded with an improved contract following his explosive performance to establish himself as a mainstay and one of the fans favourite in the club.
“We are starting this summer transfer window with the extension of a key player in the collective, in terms of performance and state of mind, Salis Abdul Samed,” Arnaud Pouille told the club's official website.
“More than his emergence at a very high level, more than his conclusive World Cup with Ghana, more than his regularity, he is the embodiment of the joy of this group of which he is one of the leaders in the commitment and in the character,”
“Extending Salis made perfect sense. It is a symbol that illustrates our approach of making the first announcement that of a form of continuity. Congratulations Salis and can't wait to see you compete in continental games”
In the just ended season, he made 35 appearances in all competitions with a goal and assist to his belt marking a very great first season for him at Lens.
The Gold and Bloods finished second on the French Ligue 1 table with just points behind eventual champions PSG and will play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
His extension means he's been tied down this time as RC Lens wouldn't have to worry on any chance of him leaving the club anytime soon despite catching the eyes of several European clubs.
Salis Abdul Samed has been included in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar
