Orlando Pirates skipper Innocent Maela has revealed that Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori has returned to training with the Buccaneers.
Ofori suffered a lingering knee injury in the MTN8 Cup final in the lead up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the injury ended up costing Ofori a place in the Black Stars World Cup squad.
Speaking in an interview, Maela was delighted with Ofori’s return to the group but was uncertain about Ofori’s availability for team selection after the injury recovery.
“He is back in training and ready to go. He is doing very well at training. He is in a good space. Unfortunately, my knowledge about his availability and date of return is limited. But you know he is a good man and pretty humble” Maela said according to Soccer Laduma.
Orlando Pirates currently occupies third place on the South African Premier League log with 34 points.
Ofori has made 13 appearances in all competitions and kept seven clean sheets while conceding seven goals this season.
He is yet to recovery from the injury that ruled him out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
