The Romanian heavyweights have affirmed the capturing of the 34-year-old experienced defender of Ghanaian descent, with the official announcement expected to be made tonight
Ghanaian right-back Christopher Braun has signed a deal with Romanian Liga l side CFR Cluj , according to club's manager Daniel Pancu.
The former Hamburg SV youth man is staging a return to the CFR Cluj Stadium campaigners from fellow top-flight rivals FC Rapid in this January window.
According to reports from the Romanian media, the veteran defender was frozen out of the București-based club by the man in charge of their dugout as he is not part of his plans in this second half of the season, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2026.
ln confirming the capturing of the former FC St. Pauli U19 star, the man on the touchline at the CFR Cluj Stadium has said as quoted by sports tabloid Gazeta Sporturilor: ''Well, I understand that Braun has signed now. He's not Romanian, but he's like a Romanian and, probably, this week we'll close with two more players and I hope we'll definitely have a better path than we've had so far.''
The signing of the experienced defender by the Ceferiștii is set to inject a new form of energy in the defensive department of the Romanian gaffer given his experience in the top-flight contest.
Born and raised to Ghanaian parents in Germany, the Hamburg-native is yet to figure for either Germany or Ghana at the international level.
