Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape, according to a report by The Telegraph.

The Crown Prosecution Service has approved the new charges which add to the case the 32-year-old is already facing. Partey has previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The alleged incidents are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022, when Partey was playing regularly for a Premier League club in north London. He was formally charged shortly after leaving the club at the end of June, following the expiry of his contract.

Partey is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday, 13 March, in connection with the latest charges. He remains on bail and is scheduled to stand trial later in the year.

Under his bail conditions, he is allowed to continue playing football but must inform police at least 24 hours before travelling outside the country and must not contact the complainants.

The midfielder, who now plays in Spain after joining Villarreal as a free agent, continues to deny all allegations. The case is ongoing, with the charges yet to be tested in court.
