After returning to Amsterdam for preseason with AFC Ajax, Ghana's Kudus Mohammed believes their performance last season was below par and will have improve massively and perform better in 2022/23 season.

The Jews failed to defend the Eredivise after losing to rivals Feyernoord who got the better off them last season. They also lost the KNVB Cup to PSV Eindhoven- same club they had lost the Dutch Super Cup too, to Mark an embarrassing trophyless campaign.

Kudus joined his teammates on Wednesday and is expected to fully engage in preparations as Ajax aims to bounce back after narrowly missing out on the Dutch league title last season.

Having participated in international activities at the end of the previous season, Kudus underwent regular exercises to regain his fitness before rejoining the rest of the squad for training.

In his interview since his return, the Right to Dream Academy graduate has challenged his teammates and himself to offer an improved performance next season which should far better than what they did last season.

"I was spending my holidays in Ghana with family, it was nice and calm. Now we have to do better than last season, that's the expectation. To win the league and to do better in the Europa League."

Last season, Kudus contributed significantly to Ajax's success, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists across all competitions. He also made a notable impact for the Ghana national team at the 2022 World Cup, scoring two important goals and setting up another.

The impressive performances of the 22-year-old midfielder for both club and country have attracted attention from top European clubs, including English clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Brighton.

While Kudus still has two years remaining on his current contract, uncertainty surrounds his future in the Netherlands as the new season approaches.
