The Black Queens of Ghana have been paired against Egypt in the final qualifying round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will once again be held in Morocco.
Due to this, head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has announced a list of 24 players to begin preparations towards the games coming up, with the invited girls expected to arrive very soon to begin preparations in Prampram.
Notable names from the previous WAFCON like skipper Portia Boakye, Susan Ama Duah, Grace Asantewaa, Josephine Bonsu, Chantelle Hlorkah-Boye, Doris Boaduwaa all made the cut.
The last edition due to series of postponement was held few months ago where the Super Falcons of Nigeria instilled their authority on the competition once again by beating host Morocco to clinch their tenth title.
However, Ghana after a long absence, made a return to the competition for the first time since 2018 and made a huge impact after clinching bronze, beating South Africa in the third-place playoff.
The Black Queens will now regroup next month to take on the Cleopatras of Egypt in a two-legged affair, with the first leg slated for October 23 in Cairo, before they return for the return encounter on October 28.
Winners from this final round will all advance to the 2026 WAFCON which will take place in March next year, and will serve as qualification to the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.
