Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has identified England as the favourites to top Group L in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but stressed the importance of treating every match with equal focus.

Ghana have been drawn alongside England, Croatia, and Panama in Group L ahead of the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. England, who were 2018 World Cup finalists, are widely regarded as group favourites. Croatia reached the semi-finals in Qatar 2022, while Panama will be making only their second appearance at a World Cup.

“I look forward to every game as special,” Addo, 50, told Ghanafa.org. “It’s very important for us that we don’t underrate any team. For sure, England is the favourite in that group, but as a coach, I’m looking at each game equally.”

Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday, 17 June, before taking on England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June.

After consecutive group stage exits in previous tournaments, the Black Stars are determined to advance beyond the first round in next year’s global showpiece.
