Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has cautioned against underestimating Croatia as the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the European side as one of the most tactically flexible teams in world football.
Speaking on Sporty FM, the minister highlighted Croatia’s recent World Cup pedigree and their ability to constantly adjust their approach within a match, making them a particularly difficult opponent to plan for.
According to Kofi Adams, Croatia’s success in recent tournaments has not been built on a single system or playing pattern, but rather on adaptability and in-game intelligence.
“Everybody knows how dangerous Croatia have been in the previous World Cups,” he noted. “They come with different strategies, and it doesn’t necessarily mean you can rely solely on what they did before as part of your preparation.”
The minister stressed that Croatia’s strength lies in their capacity to evolve during matches, often switching styles multiple times within the 90 minutes, a trait that demands sharp tactical awareness from opponents.
“They are a team that can change their style about three times within a single game,” he explained.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, and Adams’ comments underline the complexity of the challenge awaiting the Black Stars. While England are widely regarded as group favourites, Croatia’s experience and adaptability make them a major hurdle in Ghana’s quest for progression.
With preparations gradually taking shape, Adams’ remarks serve as a reminder that detailed planning, flexibility and in-game management will be crucial if Ghana are to navigate a demanding group and advance at the global showpiece.
