Head coach of the Black Galaxies, Kassim Ocansey Mingle has announced a 20-man list for the high profile pre-AFCON friendly game against South Africa on December 16.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that Bafana Bafana will wrap up their preparations for the 2026 AFCON with a final game against the home-based national team of Ghana in South Africa.
Ghana failed to secure a qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations after a disastrous campaign during the qualifiers where they finished at the bottom of Group F with teams like Sudan, Angola, and Niger.
The Black Stars are now focusing on the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled to commence in March 2026 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup for which Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
Coach Mingle’s squad had only one player from Hearts of Oak and none from their rivals Asante Kotoko. Medeama SC had the most names with five while Nations FC had three.
South Africa are in Group B in the AFCON, and they will face Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe
The Bafana Bafana will play their first match of the continental tournament against Angola on 22 December 2025.
