Former Ghana Football Association Vice President George Afriyie says he is confident the Black Stars’ technical team will be highly motivated to avenge past defeats when they take on Comoros in their final 2026 World Cup qualifying match.

Ghana will host the island nation at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, as they look to secure their spot at next summer’s tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars have fallen to Comoros twice in recent years, first in a shock 3–2 defeat during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, and again in Moroni earlier in the current qualifying campaign.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Afriyie backed the team’s determination to set the record straight.

“I am 100% sure that the technical team will go for revenge against Comoros,” he said.

Afriyie also praised the side’s recent resurgence, adding: “I have seen improvement in the Black Stars.”

Ghana currently mans top of Group I with 22 points, and Sunday’s decisive fixture is scheduled to come off at 19:00 GMT.
