Former Black Stars midfielder, Afriyie Acquah has expressed readiness to play in the Ghana Premier League for the first time and is willing to join Hearts of Oak. 

The 33-year-old is among Ghanaians who have an enjoyed a long standout careers in Europe having featured for series of clubs and still hasn’t officially retired yet. 

In his active playing days, the combative midfielder spent more time in Europe having played for Palermo, AS Parma, TSG Hoffenheim, Sampdoria, FC Torino and Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor

In Asia, he starred for teams like Ao Batin in Saudi Arabia, Iraqi’s Al-Quwa and Nepali outfit FC Chitwan - which happens to be the last club he’s worked till now and hasn’t played actively for almost two years. 

In a recent interesting interview with Fiifi Prat on Aluta FM, Acquah says he is a Kotoko fan but wishes to play for Hearts of Oak 

“I support Asante Kotoko, but I want to play for Hearts of Oak. I’m ready and willing to join the Phobians now.”

Afriyie Acquah played for the Black Stars between the period of 2012 and 2021 and featured in series of major tournaments including the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
