Bibiani Gold Stars head coach Nana Yaw Amankwah has applauded his players spirit and resilience after grinding out a difficult FA Cup victory over Basake Holy Stars at the AAK II Arena in Ampain on Wednesday.

Goldstars had to withstand a long period of pressure from the in-form Big Holy side but stayed organised and patient before finally finding the breakthrough.

Former Basake forward Emmanuel Agyei proved himself, scoring the only goal of the match with a superb finish. His relentless pressing and intelligent link-up play earned him the Man of the Match award.

Speaking after the win, Coach Amankwah praised his team’s discipline and determination in a tightly contested match.

“It was a very good game. The Basake team was at the top - to overcome them, you have to be very good,” he told Bibiani Goldstars TV.

“My boys did very well today. They really played football, and that is why we were able to beat Basake. They’ve done a great job.”

Goldstars now turn their focus back to the Ghana Premier League, where they face 7th-placed Samartex on December 7.
