Ghanaian football legend and the country's leading goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan has called for support for Inaki Williams after his debut game in Ghana ended without scoring a goal.
Williams, who featured for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, started in the matchday three of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola but was substituted in the second half after failing to find the back of the net.
Gyan has urged fans to be patient with the forward, saying that he needs a goal to boost his confidence.
"It's very difficult to adjust to the African game, He has played in Europe all his life," he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
"We need to give him more opportunities, he is improving even though he hasn't found his feet yet but I'm sure his first goal will open the floodgates and many more will follow.
"His first goal will boost his confidence level. Let's keep supporting him," he added.
Despite Williams' struggle, the Black Stars won the game 1-0, with Antoine Semenyo scoring the only goal.
Ghana now tops Group E with 7 points and will face Angola again in the matchday four game on Monday, March 27, seeking to end the country's 4-year Afcon trophy drought.
