Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Frederick Asare earned his debut Black Stars call up over the weekend ahead of the upinternational friendlies coming up later this month and has expressed strong delight for that.

Coach Otto Addo, after being reappointed as the Black Stars head coach, has already announced his 26-man squad for the games against Nigeria and Uganda with lots of expected names included.

However, the newest inclusion in the list is Asante Kotoko shot-stopper Frederick Asare, who has been.very consistent and outstanding in the Ghanaian topflight.

His consistent stellar displays caught the good eyes of the technical team who have rewarded him with the opportunity and is the only home-based player to make the cut this time.

In interview, the stalwart netminder has explained how he got the news of his club and also expressed how elated he is for such an opportunity.

"I was so surprised when I heard the news. I was asleep and my roommate woke me up with the news. I am very happy to be called up to the Black Stars squad."

This is the first time the Black Stars will be regrouping since their disastrous campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which was held early this year in Cote D'Ivoire.

The Black Stars will take on sworn rivals Nigeria on March 22, in Marrakech, and the Cranes of Uganda on March 26, as confirmed by the GFA.

The game will be used as a preparatory path for the four time African champions who will face Mali in June in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
