Benedicte Simon made her senior debut for the Black Queens on Tuesday night as Ghana succumbed to a 2–0 defeat to England in a historic international friendly at St Mary’s Stadium.

The defender was handed her maiden cap by head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, who named her in the starting lineup against the European champions.

Simon slotted into a backline led by captain Portia Boakye and Susan Ama Duah, marking a significant milestone in her international career.

Ghana fielded a strong side for the high-profile fixture, with Cynthia Konlan Fiindib in goal and a midfield trio of Jennifer Cudjoe, Stella Nyamekye and Grace Asantewaa providing structure and energy.

Up front, Alice Kusi, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Doris Boaduwaa spearheaded the attack as the Black Queens looked to showcase their identity and competitiveness on a major stage.

The match marked the first-ever meeting between the two nations, adding extra significance to Simon’s debut appearance.
