According to information from Sportsworldghana.com, Sheffield United goalkeeper Jordan Yamoah Amissah is poised to receive a call-up to the Black Meteors for the CAF U-23 AFCON in June.

The former Borussia Dortmund youth player, who was on loan at League One side Burton Albion in the English third tier league, caught the eye of Ghana's Olympic team technical team with his outstanding performances.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his technical team have reportedly contacted Amissah for a call-up to represent Ghana at the U-23 level at the tournament, where Ghana will compete against hosts Morocco, Congo Brazzaville, and Guinea. The ultimate goal is to qualify for the 2024 Olympic games in Paris, France.

Ghana has not participated in the Olympic games since the Athens games in Greece in 2004, and they hope to end this 20-year drought with a strong showing in the upcoming tournament.

The Black Meteors came close to securing a place in the last edition in Japan in 2020 but lost to South Africa on penalties in the third-place playoff.
