Black Meteors coach, Ibrahim Tanko despite having his call up turned down by Felix Afena-Gyan earlier, has stated he has no problem and will go ahead to add him to his final squad for next month's Africa U-23 Championship if his service will be needed.
The on-loan AS Roma forward at Cremonese was initially included in the U23 squad for their final qualifying round double header against Algeria with what many a football faithful believe is due to his snub at the 2022 World Cup- that's per speculations.
Ghana nipped on Abdul Fatawu Issahaku's first half strike to record a 2-1 on aggregate win over Algeria to book their place at the AFCON- which will serve as qualification to the next Olympic Games.
Ibrahim Tanko believes every player whose service is going to be needed will be invited. He said;
"Every good player that can help us, we will invite him. Of course, we have Fatawu (Issahaku) Ernest Nuamah, Kamaldeen can play, Afena Gyan can play, Essiem, Salim, Zuberu…all of them are there," he told Footballmadeinghana.com.
"We are also looking at other players who are qualified to play so definitely we will do a very good selection for Ghana so that we will break that jinx since 2004,”
The 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations will be held from June 23 to July 8, 2023 in Morocco.
The Meteors will hope to make the final three at the tourney and secure qualification to the next 2024 Olympic Games to halt their almost 20-year absence from the competition.
