Ghana’s Black Stars have inched up the FIFA world rankings, climbing one place to 75th after taking four points from Chad and Mali in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The four-time African champions were previously rooted in 76th for two successive editions, but a draw with Chad followed by victory over Mali has nudged them marginally higher on the global ladder.

However, the incremental progress has not translated onto the continental scale as Ghana remain 14th in Africa, a reminder of the growing competition among the continent’s top nations.

Head coach Otto Addo, who has faced sustained scrutiny since his reappointment, will view the shift as a small step in the right direction.

Addo's side now look ahead to decisive qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros in October, fixtures that could define both their World Cup hopes and their standing in the global game.
