Berekum Chelsea forward Dominic Frimpong has been confirmed dead after sustaining a head injury following a highway robbery on the club's team bus.
The team was returning from their Ghana Premier League game against FC Samartex when the incident occurred.
The team bus was attacked by armed robbers on the Bibiani-Goaso road, Ahyiresu, where the robbers blocked the road, forcing players and officials to evacuate the bus and flee into the bushes.
During the attack, several players sustained injuries, and Frimpong was shot in the head.
The 20-year-old was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Ghana Police are searching for missing players and officials and pursuing the armed robbers, who are on the run.
Frimpong had joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January, with a deal set to run until the end of the 2025-26 Ghana Premier League season.
He had scored two goals in 13 appearances this season.
