The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reached an agreement with a reputable company to become the headline sponsor of its competitions ahead 2022/23 season.

GFA communication director, Henry Asante Twum has confirmed that the country's football governing will announce a headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League, Women's Premier League and the Division One League in the coming days.

The Ghana Football Association has been struggling to secure a headline sponsor for the above-mentioned competitions in the last five years with the exception of the FA Cup and Juvenile Competition which are sponsored by MTN Ghana and KGL respectively.

GFA already have contracts with NASCO Electronics, Melcom, DDP Advertising Outdoor Limited, STC InterCity, ZAZ Produkte, Tempo Balls and StarTimes as official partners of the Ghana Premier League. Betway Ghana has a partnership deal with the Football Association for the Women's Premier League.

Kickgh.com understands that the proposed deal expected to signed between the company and the Ghana Football Association for the Premier League worth three million dollars ($3 million) per season.

“In the past two seasons, the various leagues have been played without a headline sponsor and you cannot blame the current administration because we are all aware of what happened,” Henry Asante Twum told Asempa FM.

“When we took office, we have made the effort to stream the Women’s League on Facebook and also being aired on MAX TV. We know it’s not enough but it is better than before.

“We have spoken to companies who are willing to come on board to sponsor the various leagues and I am sure before the start of the football season, the Ghana Football Association [GFA] will announce the respective companies and what they are offering the leagues.

"We're excited about the discussions. I look very positive. In the next few weeks, we will make the details public. Not only one company. It's not only for Ghana Premier League but also for Division One League and Women's Premier League,” he added.

The 2022/23 football season will kick off in September as announced by the Ghana Football Association last month.
