Charles Kwabla Akonnor, ex- Black Stars captain and head coach, has confessed the current team is in a very bad state but is very hopeful Otto Addo can help turn things around if he is giving enough time.
Otto Addo, has been reappointed to replace Chris Hughton who guided the team to an appalling AFCON campaign early this year in Cote D'Ivoire.
The Borussia Dortmund trainer couldn't make a good start to revive hopes among the Ghanaian football faithfuls having lost to Nigeria and drawn against Uganda in recent friendlies.
However, CK Akonnor, who has his experience with team both on and off the pitch, feels Ghanaians should be patient and give the new coach time as he strongly believes he can patch up all cracks to get the Black Stars back on track.
"A coach has been assigned for a couple of years, which means he will have a good plan to follow. It also means that we, as a country, should be patient while the coach has time to impact his knowledge on the team and then excel. He told Akoma FM in Kumasi
"What we do know is that the team is in a bad state right now, so we need to start over, making sure everything goes well, and hopefully before we get the chance to qualify for the World Cup and the next AFCON, we will improve our standards.
"I hope things improve quickly because there is too much negativity on the team, and the only way to change people's minds is for us to be successful and win convincingly. We need to start strong, win matches, and play an appealing game.
"This should be the team's immediate plan, and I believe Otto Addo can do it."
C.K Akonnor handled the Black Stars for almost two years, from January 15, 2020, to September 13, 2021.
