Former Black Stars coach and captain, Charles Kwabla Akonnor has stated with so much optimism that, his former club Dreams FC will win the CAF Confederations Cup and added their performance so far is enough to make such claims for them.
The last and only time a Ghanaian side won the competition was Hearts of Oak who won the maiden edition in 2005, some nineteen years ago.
The 'Still Believe' lads have been very impressive since the start having finished as winners of Group C at the expense of Nigerian side Rivers United, APC Lobito and Club Africain from Tunisia.
Currently in knockout stage, John Antwi's second half brace was enough for the Greens to grind an important 1-2 away win in Bamako against Stade Malien as they prepare for the return encounter this weekend.
With this run, the 50-year-old has confidently backed Dreams FC to go in for the ultimate and has also urged Ghanaians to rally behind them strongly to make it happen.
"Dreams FC is succeeding and has brought pride to Ghana. How fearlessly and confidently they play is something to behold.
"I think they will win the competition the way they are going. We must all lend them our support. We should all be proud of the players for demonstrating soundness and unity, and we should support them to reach the finals and possibly win the championship.
"I believe the players have demonstrated some soundness in their play, as well as some understanding among themselves, which is critical, so they have gone above and beyond what one could expect."
The second leg is slated for 16:00GMT on Sunday, April 7, at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
