Former Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah says Kwesi Appiah showed some weakness as the Black Stars head coach in 2014.
Kwesi Appiah was the head coach of the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup meanwhile, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah was the then Minister of Youth and Sports.
Ghana's World Cup campaign was marred by monetary issues as the players boycotted training.
As a result, Ghana was eliminated from the group stages, their worse ever performance at the mundial.
Subsequently, Ghana failed to qualify for 2018 World Cup in Brazil before securing their fourth World Cup appearance for 2022 World Cup.
Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in the group stages in Qatar.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah believes that Kwesi Appiah was weak in his post as the head coach of Ghana.
"It’s not about Black or White Coach, it’s about capacity. I think Coach Kwesi Appiah with the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil was decent, but he showed some weakness. I kept on saying that he needed to be a bit stronger with the squad,” he told Class FM.
The 2022 World Cup will start on 20th November and end on 18th December.
